Nha Trang Marriott Resort & Spa Hon Tre Review: Is It Worth It?
Having just wrapped up a few days of relaxation at Nha Trang Marriott Resort & Spa, Hon Tre Island, I wanted to record my experience in an everyday way: from the boat journey to the island, the feel of the villa, the green spaces around the grounds, how the staff interacts with guests, to the morning buffet and daily meals.
This wasn’t a trip focused on checking off sightseeing spots. My group chose to slow down, spend time at the resort, and embrace that “getaway” feeling amidst the sea, sunshine, and greenery of Hon Tre. If you are considering a vacation for your family or group of friends in Nha Trang, the details below can help give you a more realistic picture.
Heading to Hon Tre Island: The Vacation Starts Right Away
The first noticeable difference is that the resort is located on Hon Tre Island, separated from downtown Nha Trang. As you leave the mainland, the city gradually fades into the distance, while green hillsides and coastline structures come into view ahead. The moment you see a panoramic view of the resort from the water makes it feel like the vacation starts even before check-in.

Once inside, the most striking impression is the sense of openness. The lawns are neatly manicured, and pathways wind between palms, coconut trees, and flowers. Sunlight filtering through large glass panels reduces the typical “hotel” feel, leaning closer to a resort garden.

What I loved most was being able to find very simple corners to sit and relax: spreading a blanket on the grass, bringing along some fruit and pastries, and letting the kids run around. No complicated schedule was needed; just an afternoon like that was enough to truly feel rested.
Villas and Private Pools: The Real Value for Groups
My group opted for a 3-bedroom ocean-view villa with a private pool. The villa is tucked away from crowded areas, making it ideal for families or groups of friends who want both shared living spaces and privacy.

The pool isn’t overly extravagant, but it is enough for the whole group to unwind without having to head to the shared common pool. Opening the door to immediate water views, lounge chairs, and greenery naturally slows down the daily rhythm. This was, in my opinion, the most worthwhile part of traveling in a larger group.
The rooms use warm color tones, large glass windows, and plenty of natural light. The beds and linens are comfortable, and the bathrooms are spacious. One thing to keep in mind is that the resort is very large, so getting from the villa to the restaurants or common facilities is generally more convenient using a buggy. During breakfast or checkout times, you might occasionally have to wait.
The Human Element: Small Encounters That Make the Trip Feel Welcoming
A beautiful resort doesn’t always feel pleasant if the service is too cold. During this trip, what stood out to me were the small interactions: staff actively greeting guests, offering help when needed, and being quite accommodating when guests wanted to snap a commemorative photo.

I don’t judge service solely based on a few photos, but genuine smiles and natural interactions are the clearest signs of a stress-free vacation. Even though the resort was quite busy during our stay, assistance overall remained prompt and friendly.
Breakfast Buffet: Variety and Bright Spaces
The restaurant features plenty of white tones, high ceilings, and large arched windows overlooking the coconut palms. Abundant natural light in the morning keeps the space feeling light and airy, even when the buffet area gets busy.

The buffet combines Vietnamese, Asian, and Western dishes. Alongside pho, hu tieu, dim sum, sushi, pastries, and cold cuts, there is a hot food station with made-to-order eggs. I found the Vietnamese dishes quite palatable, while those favoring a Western-style breakfast have plenty of choices to switch things up.

If you prefer a leisurely meal, it’s best to avoid the 8:30–9:30 rush when many guests gather. Going slightly earlier makes it easier to secure a nice table, skip long lines, and take photos of the buffet setup comfortably.
Dining Throughout the Day: From Light Bites to Group Dinners
Aside from the breakfast buffet, our group tried some pizzas, mixed drinks, and hot dishes. The pizzas featured slightly charred crusts which were great for sharing, and two sweet-and-sour drinks helped lighten up lunch. The cheese-topped hot dishes were richer, suiting those who enjoy creamy and mildly spicy comfort food.

At the bar, I captured two drink menus corresponding to different packages. The list includes soft drinks, juices, teas, coffees, beers, wines, and spirits. The key thing to remember is that actual inclusions depend on your room package at the time of stay; don’t assume everything on the menu is automatically included in your room rate.

For large groups, an outdoor dinner is a much more memorable experience than simply dining indoors. Long tables, warm lighting, and the cool island breeze create a cozy atmosphere. Everyone gets time to chat, share dishes, and take a group photo instead of rushing off to separate schedules.

Pools, Beaches, and the Slow Island Rhythm
Pools and beaches are places where you don’t need an itinerary. Mornings can be spent walking by the sea, afternoons resting in the villa, late afternoons at the pool, and evenings strolling casually around the grounds. What I loved wasn’t a specific activity, but the fact that everything was close enough that no one had to rush.
Traveling with young children makes the lawns, pools, and outdoor play areas very helpful for flexible daily routines. For adult groups, the bar, restaurants, and outdoor seating corners accommodate different preferences before everyone reunites for dinner.

Is Nha Trang Marriott Resort & Spa Hon Tre Worth Experiencing?
Personal Rating: 8.5/10.
If your main goal is to explore Nha Trang all morning and only need a place to sleep at night, you might not need to choose an isolated resort like this.
However, if you want a few days of genuine rest featuring the sea, pools, green spaces, privacy, diverse dining options, and plenty of amenities for the whole family, Nha Trang Marriott Resort & Spa on Hon Tre Island is definitely worth considering.
What I remember most after the trip isn’t a single dish or individual amenity. It’s the feeling that our group could stay together while still having personal space: kids playing outdoors, adults sitting by the pool, a long unhurried dinner, and friendly encounters that made the resort feel welcoming.
Note: Amenities, operating hours, menus, and package benefits are subject to change. It is recommended to confirm directly with the property before your trip.
